SNOWMOBILE OPERATORS COURSE

COURSE DESCRIPTION
The Snowmobile Safety program was developed by Portage College in conjunction with, and with approval from the Alberta Snowmobile Association in an agreed partnership. This provincially recognizedprogram offers certification in the safe and efficient use of snowmobile either in the workplace or for recreational use. Instructors are trained by Portage College in accordance with Alberta Snowmobile Association standards.
Learn the safety regulations and be familiar with the required safety features and protective equipment. Discover how to detect hazardous conditions, be prepared for unexpected occurrences an know what to do in emergency situations.
CONTENT
The program covers three topics of instruction: Safety, Maintenance and Operations. The program is mobile and can be offered at a site requested by the client. Seminars, practical training, and fieldwork are incorporated to provide the student with a comprehensive educational experience.
- Learn the basic maintenance and useful tips for your snowmobile including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Learn to recognize hazards and reduce risks when riding. Snowmobiling and alcohol don't mix, don't drink and ride. Know before you go! Always check local ice conditions. When night riding, slow down! Expect the unexpected. Ride safe, stay on the trail. Respect private property. Know the risks, and be prepared. And make every trip a round trip.
- Cross with care, don't become roadkill. Snowmobiling is a fun family life-style activity, join us today. Ride smart, ride right, stay in control. One is the loneliest number, never ride alone. Smart riders are safe riders, take snowmobile safety training.

- Provincial / Municipal road requirements along with Traffic Act Laws
- Open discussion with hands on training.

PROGRAM LENGTH
- Hours in Class: min of 10 hours of classroom and field practices (outdoors instruction)
- Class Size: max 10 per day
- Certification: 3 years from date of issue
TARGET GROUP / PARTICIPANTS
Oil and gas employees, foresters, emergency medical technicians, adventure travel companies, seismic and survey crews, ranchers, police and recreational users. Which means our instructors can bring the course to you and your site.
DATES
Edmonton course's are offered once a week. You also have choices to pick another date or location within Alberta or Western Canada. If there is date you wish give us a call. Short notice courses can usally be arranged.
EQUIPMENT/LODGING, ETC.
We have snowmobiles, helmets, gloves, goggles, etc available upon request. Hotels, meals, etc can also be arranged, we are here for you.
